The Return of 'TRL' Will Be on Your TV in the near Future

The return of Total Request Live will be on your televisions in the near future and we are so excited!

TRL will make its big debut on Monday, October 2 on MTV. The original TRL aired from 1998 to 2008 and will return to filming in the same Times Square studio—however, in an upgraded and revamped setting.

The studio will be able to hold bigger audiences, wide-ranging sets, and new digital extensions; leading to new content on YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, and more.

For its rebooted version of TRL, MTV will be rotating a group of up-and-coming hosts for the hour-long show. During the episodes, the hosts will be expected to present music videos, interview celebrity guests, and interact with the live studio audience.

MTV has set Amy Phan, D.C. Young Fly, Lawrence Jackson, Tamara Dhia, and Erik Zachary as hosts of the new TRL. YouTube star, Liza Koshy, has been set as co-host of the TRL revival—also developing and executive producing original content for the cable network.

RECAP EXPERIENCE:

Contributing writer, Cynthia Sanchez, attended an audience taping of MTV Live on July 24. Hosting the show which aired during commercials was D.C. Young Fly, and celebrity guest consisted of French Montana and Young M.A.

Audience members were very excited to take part in this experience, as well as be in the same room with some of our favorite stars. D.C. Young Fly was definitely a great host and made the audience laugh non-stop.

Karim Kharbouch, better known as French Montana was the first celebrity interviewed. Later, the 32-year-old hip-hop rapper was accompanied by Young M.A. The duo took part in a basketball shootout which certainly had the audience hyped up.

Next, French Montana answered a couple of questions from male’s in the studio audience about dating—leading to a performance of Unforgettable from French’s album Jungle Rules. You thought French performed right? Wrong. A dance crew showed off their moves to the summer hit while the rapper left through the back.

While MTV shows were airing, we all had down time to chat with the celebrities and take some photos. Overall, the experience was great and everyone is certainly excited for the revival of TRL.
