A Benefit for Hurricane Relief: George Clooney, Cher, and More
A variety of celebrities teamed up to raise more than $14.5 million during Tuesday’s Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief, which is a telethon fundraiser that was created to benefit the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
As stated by People, “Stevie Wonder kicked off the one-hour commercial-free special with a performance of “Lean On Me” accompanied by a choir while Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx gave opening remarks.”
Celebrities were shown live from phone banks in some of our major cities, such as New York City, Los Angeles and Nashville. Hurricane Harvey and Irma created major damage to Texas and Florida—with a death toll of approximately of 85, according to the New York Times.
